Commissioned work

A commission is made in response to an agreed project. Where the published story identifies a client, a collaboration or a licensed character, that context stays attached. A client image appearing in the portfolio does not mean that it can be reused for another project.

Personal work

A personal image can begin with curiosity, a place, a visual challenge or an everyday observation. It is valuable evidence of the artist’s choices without needing to be presented as a paid client commission.

Educational studies

Learning is part of a working practice. A study made during a course or master class should retain the teacher, course and reference context available in its original story. It is not automatically evidence of an independent client brief.

Artwork in a setting

A mockup helps imagine an illustration on a wall, object or package. It is a presentation image, not proof that the object was manufactured or installed. Product photography and presentation mockups keep distinct captions.

A process worth looking at

A sketch, a colour study and a finished image answer different questions. The journal can show those decisions without implying that every piece follows the same sequence or uses the same tools.
