A bag of tangerines
Timing: Several hours
Approximate cost: $20
Just a simple illustration of tangerines in a knitted bag.
I love depth, style, and vivid saturated colours of tangerines. Just like they are sold in rural village shops of Spanish & Greek country side when I travel there.

This piece started from a very simple, everyday image: a few tangerines gathered in a soft knitted bag. What interested me was not only the fruit itself, but the contrast between textures — the smooth, bright skin of the tangerines, the deep glossy green leaves, and the softness of the fabric holding them together.
I wanted this illustration to feel warm, domestic, and quietly tactile. The background is intentionally muted and earthy so the citrus tones could stay luminous without becoming too sharp. The still life is simple, but I tried to give it a sense of weight and atmosphere, as if it belongs to a real corner of a kitchen or home.
I’m always drawn to subjects like this because they let me work with color and texture in a very direct way. The oranges bring energy, while the knitted bag softens the whole composition and makes it feel more intimate. It becomes less about fruit as an object and more about a small lived-in moment.
For me, this piece sits somewhere between still life illustration and decorative food art. It’s a quiet composition, but one that carries warmth, seasonality, and a sense of comfort.
