Stationery artwork
A venue, botanical motif or personal scene can begin an invitation. Related illustrations can extend to other pieces, with each format planned around its wording.
Event illustrations
A welcome sign, illustrated menu or signature-drink sign can give practical information a personal setting. Supply the wording, dimensions and production dates with the brief.
Portraits & keepsakes
A couple portrait, family illustration or meaningful place can become a gift or mark an anniversary. Its subject and tone can be discussed independently of the stationery.
Start with something
that could only be yours.
It might be the place you met, a building you love, the flowers in a family garden or a shared joke. Those details give an illustration a reason to exist beyond matching a palette.
Send photographs and explain what should remain recognisable. For a venue, show the view you prefer. For a couple or family, identify the people and expressions that belong in the image. A good brief also says what can be left out; the artwork does not have to contain every detail of the celebration.
The existing botanical, architectural and portrait pieces on this page show possible visual approaches. A wedding commission would receive its own artwork and composition; these are not claimed photographs of a client’s finished stationery.
The artwork deadline
comes before the occasion.
Include both the event date and the date your printer needs the files. Invitations, signage and gifts may have different production schedules. List every item rather than working backward from the celebration alone.
Illustration, stationery layout, printing and installation are different tasks. Agree who supplies and checks the wording, who prepares the complete layouts and who approves production proofs. An illustration-only order does not automatically include those responsibilities.
For a surprise gift or private event, discuss confidentiality and a delayed portfolio reveal before work starts. The arrangement can then be recorded in the commission rather than left to assumption.

Put this direction into a useful brief.
Bring a relevant portfolio example and describe what you like about it: the handling of colour, the expression, the texture or the composition. Then describe your own subject and where the artwork will appear. The reference starts the discussion; the new work is developed for your particular purpose.

1. Define the occasion
Share subjects, references, item list and production dates. Agree the artwork, formats, intended uses and review stages.
2. Review the sketches
Consider the visual direction with the wording and layout in view. Resolve venue details, subjects and motifs before the final treatment.
3. Finish & hand off
Develop the approved illustrations and prepare the specified files. Additional stationery, printing or physical delivery is included only when agreed.

Send the complete item list and sizes. A shared illustration direction can connect them, with each adaptation and any layout work specified in the quote.
Can you illustrate our signature drinks?
Share photographs, the required names and final sign dimensions. Artwork, wording and complete sign layout should be distinguished in the brief.
Do you offer live guest portraits?
This page concerns artwork prepared before an event. On-site illustration, travel, guest capacity and availability require a separate discussion and are not assumed to be available.
What determines the price?
Subjects, detail, number of pieces, adaptations, production requirements and usage. A keepsake portrait and a complete illustrated stationery suite are different commissions.
Can the same image appear on several personal event items?
List them before ordering so the licence and files cover those uses. Commercial reuse by a venue or event business is a separate point to agree.
Can the work stay private?
Ask for confidentiality or a delayed reveal before the commission begins. The written agreement records the arrangement; see the current terms for general portfolio-use conditions.
