Product & Merchandise Illustration

A bag people carry. A notebook they keep. A collection with something of its own.

Adelya creates artwork for merchandise, stationery and illustrated product ranges. The idea is developed for the object—not simply placed on it after the drawing is finished.

A single object.
Or a connected product family.

Merchandise artwork

Illustrations for bags, apparel and other printed objects. A central graphic, a small emblem and an all-over design ask for different compositions and production preparation.

Stationery & gifts

Artwork for notebooks, cards, calendars and related collections. A series can share subjects or a visual language while giving each item a reason to exist on its own.

Specialist illustrated products

Discuss artwork for puzzles, game components, pins or other objects with a defined production brief. Technical constraints, asset counts and suitability are reviewed before the work is accepted.

For packaging around the product, use packaging illustration. For the repeat itself, explore surface pattern design.

The artwork changes
when it meets the material.

The Nutcracker project developed into a collection for Oyobabe’s children’s clothing and bed linen. The published case shows the illustrations alongside the products, making the relationship between the design and its application visible.

The source characters belong to Soyuzmultfilm and were used in the context of that licensed project. They are not a catalogue of unrestricted artwork available for another brand.

Your own product begins with its own brief: the object, the maker, the audience and the rights needed. A design that looks good on a screen still needs to be considered at the size and on the material where it will be produced.

The same subject.
A different kind of object.

The shrimp artwork is explored as a tote and an apparel graphic. These mockups test the relationship between the image, the available area and the object around it.

A collection can use a central illustration in one place and a smaller motif elsewhere. It does not need to repeat one identical crop on every item. Planning the range together leaves room for both recognition and variety.

For a production brief, send the blank product template or technical drawing supplied by your manufacturer. Identify seams, folds, safe areas and any limits on color or detail that affect the artwork.

1. Product & scope

Share the range, audience, templates and intended production method. Agree the number of artworks, versions, review stages and commercial use.

2. Artwork direction

Review sketches with the product in mind. Establish composition, scale and the relationship between designs before developing the finished collection.

3. Production review

Prepare the agreed files for your maker’s specifications. Samples and production proofs should be checked by the responsible team; additional artwork adjustments can be included in the scope.

4. Final handoff

Deliver the approved exports and any editable files explicitly agreed. Manufacture, product safety, stock management and fulfilment are not part of an illustration commission by default.

Read the commissioning process · Plan the artwork budget

Before sending the template.

Do you design the physical product itself?

This service centres on illustration applied to products. Industrial design, engineering, material specification and manufacturing are separate disciplines and are not implied by the artwork offer.

Can one design be adapted across a range?

Yes, when the products and versions are agreed in the brief. Different objects may need different compositions, sizes or simplifications rather than an automatic resize.

Can you illustrate a board game, puzzle or enamel pin?

Send the full asset list and manufacturer requirements for review. Game design, engineering and production are not included automatically. A small illustration brief and a complete game-art system require different capacity and planning.

What determines the price?

The number of designs, complexity, variants, production preparation, timeline and commercial licence. A small run of one product and a multi-category collection should be described accurately when requesting a quote.

Can we use licensed characters?

Provide the relevant permissions and brand guidelines before commissioning adaptations. Existing portfolio examples involving third-party characters do not grant permission to reuse those characters in a new product.

Are manufacturing and samples included?

Only when separately agreed. The quote states what artwork, files and production coordination are included. General licensing and order conditions are in the current terms.

Put this direction into a useful brief.

Bring a relevant portfolio example and describe what you like about it: the handling of colour, the expression, the texture or the composition. Then describe your own subject and where the artwork will appear. The reference starts the discussion; the new work is developed for your particular purpose.
