Yellow Cottage Watercolor Painting
This piece is one of my small-format watercolor works, painted as a postcard. I really enjoy working in this size—it feels intimate, like capturing a quiet moment you can hold in your hands.
The house in this painting is inspired by the kind of remote places I’m drawn to—simple, a bit isolated, surrounded by open land and silence. I chose a warm yellow for the cottage to make it stand out gently against the cooler, muted tones of the landscape. It becomes a small point of warmth in a wide, calm environment.
With watercolor, I try not to over-control things. I let the pigments spread, blend, and create texture naturally on the paper. You can see this especially in the grass and the hills, where the brushstrokes stay loose and slightly unpredictable. That’s an important part of how I work—it keeps the piece alive.
This work exists only in a fine-art hand-made version. This work is a part of Fine Art & Watercolour collections.
